Stone setting

Article Abstract:

Modified stone-setting burs can lead to more securely set and attractive stones, and it is easier for a bezel to lie over and fragile stones are protected when a slight undercut is made at the base of a bur. A modified wheel bur can be used in setting cabochon stones, allowing the setting even thick-girdled stones safely and easily. Other bur modification methods are discussed.
