"V for Victory" campaign originated by the BBC

Article Abstract:

Suggested by a Belgian refugee in the UK, The V became a broadcast symbol for victory. The BBC later linked it to Beethoven's Fifth became of the numeral V. Infighting between intelligence groups and the BBC are discussed. Postage stamps with the V theme issued by the US and others are described.

Space walk anniversary commemorated with unique covers

Article Abstract:

Philatelic items commemorating Edward White's historic space walk on Jun 3, 1965 were combined on the event's 10th anniversary to make a creative cover. Stamps, a military payment certificate and a special cover envelope were mailed and cancelled on Jun 3, 1975.
