Teacher of the year award

Article Abstract:

The American Home Economics Association (AHEA) has selected Alabama home economics teacher Janice S. Hall as its 1992 Teacher of the Year. Hall's work as director of the Infant Care Training Center in Birmingham, AL, has been widely acclaimed. The program teaches pregnant teenagers basic parenting skills and helps develop their self-confidence. The teenagers are also taught critical thinking and problem solving techniques as well as subjects such as health, consumer education and math.

1992 distinguished service award recipients

Article Abstract:

The American Home Economics Assn Foundation honored Marjorie Brown, Kinsey Green, Amy Jean Knorr and Em Riggs for their distinguished contributions to home economics. Brown is recognized for her outstanding contributions as home economics teacher while Green is an active national speaker on family and minority issues. Knorr was honored for her leadership and support of home economics from local to international levels while Riggs celebrated 50 years of active teaching of homeeconomics.

Business home economist of the year award

Article Abstract:

Mary A. Bartz has been selected as the Business Home Economist of the Year at the 1992 annual general meeting of the Home Economists in Business (HEIB). She is currently a business unit planner for the Betty Crocker Food and Publications Center in Minneapolis. Her good business sense and excellent managerial talents have helped her build a successful career. She is also an active participant in community development.
