19th-century Meissen

Article Abstract:

Ceramic decorative pieces from the Meissen factory dominated the European porcelain industry in the 18th and 19th century. The recent popularity of 19th century Meissen pieces come from their rarity and timeless appeal. These can be distinguished by the incised crossed-swords emblem.

The New Orleans Museum of Arts and M.S. Rau Antiques will exhibit Meissen porcelain items and showcase the 287 years of porcelain artistry. The New Orleans Museum will feature part of its first Germanic collection while M.S. Rau has the Meissen Four Element ewers in store.
