On the trail of ... Louis Sullivan banks; a three-day "bank holiday" through the rural Midwest highlights the architect's genius

Article Abstract:

Commercial architect Louis Sullivan drew his inspiration for exterior architectural decoration from the Midwest prairies. He favored foliage and flowers in abstract form, mostly worked in terracotta. A description of all his bank commissions is given.
