Against the wind: how to protect your gardens from the weather with a well-planted windbreak

Article Abstract:

The open plains of the US may have winds strong enough to seriously damage crops. A row of trees as a windbreak can often solve the problem. Tips are given on how to design and plant a windbreak. Working with the natural land contour is important. Shrubs, deciduous trees and evergreens are planted.
