All-American mallows: hibiscuses and their many comely American cousins add vibrant colors to summer gardens

Article Abstract:

Several varieties of hibiscus and other members of the mallow family can be grown in non-tropical areas of the United States. Certain varieties, such as swamp hibiscus and rose mallow, prefer wetland areas in the East and in California's Central Valley. Other varieties thrive in the desert areas of the Southwest.

Profiles and recommendations by expert rose growers on 10 climbing and rambling roses which are ideal for romantic vignettes in decorating garden are presented. Some of the species of this rose include Adelaide d'Orleans, Mlle. Cecile Brunner, Climbing Iceberg, and Dublin Bay.
