Article Abstract:

A couple desiring to live near water enlist the aid of landscape professionals to build a stream and pond on their property. Unable to fulfill their dream of living on a houseboat the couple purchased land in Oregon's Willamette Valley and with pumps and building ingenuity create an attractive waterway near their home. The property, landscaped with native plants, serves as a new home for many water-loving insects and animals.

Upon reflection: Five pond-building principles bubble to the surface

Article Abstract:

Five principles for building a practically perfect pond are described. It is suggested that a pond need not be only picturesque but also practical, pond construction should be done taking into account the geography of the area, maintenance of ponds is compulsory, nature should never be interfered with and even the smallest home remedies help in improving the pond.

Build a beautiful - and beneficial - pond

Article Abstract:

A well-designed backyard will attract useful, pest-eating creatures such as frogs, dragonflies and birds as well as add beauty. A flexible pond lining usually works better than a rigid liner. Tips for digging, choosing the right size and location and stocking it with the right plants are presented.
