A chronologic history of the American Craft Council from 1943 to 1993 is presented. Important events include the publication of 'Craft Horizons' magazine, the opening of the first arts and crafts museum, national conferences and recognition of personalities within the arts and crafts movement.

Towards an alternative history: Otis clay revisited

Article Abstract:

The Otis Art Institute's ceramics department gave birth to the modern vision of ceramics as an art form, under the leadership of Peter Voulkos. The movement went from functionality to modernism, but still must overcome the constricting rules of the art world.
