An island sanctuary

Article Abstract:

Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Martha's Vineyard offers 350 acres of protected land in which children can learn about nature and experience the unique relationships between land and wildlife. The sanctuary, operated by the Massachusetts Audubon Society, provides educational opportunities for young people and also serves as a work environment for troubled teens. Children of all ages are encouraged to learn about and understand complicated environmental issues.

Wild Earth Native Plant Nursery

Article Abstract:

Wild Earth Native Plant Nursery is a successful yet simple retail store in New Jersey that offers a large and unique selection of eastern native flora. The owner, an avid gardener, grows most of his plants from seeds he collects in the area. Among the more rare plants the nursery sells are the yellow star grass (Hypoxis hirsuta) and the carnivorous thread-leaved sundew (Drosera filiformis).

Gossler Farms Nursery: magnolias and more

The Gossler Farm Nursery, started in Oregon in 1963, has gained recognition for its varied selection of plants and the enthusiasm of its owners. The family-run business offers a catalog which reflects both the family's love of horticulture and their focus on customer service. Though they specialize in magnolias, the Gosslers also offer a selection of rare junipers, maples and other plants.
