Blooms that brighten the shade

Hydrangeas, rhododendrons, azaleas and andromeda are several types of plants which grow well in shade, giving color and a light look to dense foliage. However, gardeners should consider shade density, soil type and water requirements when planting and growing flowering plants in the shade.

Growing grass in shade

Article Abstract:

Good grass can be grown even under tall shade trees. Extension turfgrass specialist Richard Duble and George Robinson, whose lawn was picked Home Lawn of the Year in 1994, share pointers, such as choosing shade-tolerant ground cover and removing the lower limbs of trees.
