Breaking new ground: how to choose the right midsize tiller

Article Abstract:

Selecting a soil tiller depends upon the desired size, design and price. A medium-size tiller, for example, will handle 750 sq ft and has 2 to 6 horsepower. A front-tine tiller has an engine and its tines ahead of the tiller's wheels. Tiller specifications and prices are provided.

Soil tillers are found in small, medium and large sizes, depending upon the extent of soil tilling required. Small tillers cost approximately $150, weigh 20 lb and have 1.6 horsepower engines. The larger tillers are needed for breaking sod and tilling in green-manure crops.
