NMA is "Dying", but Micrographics Fights On

Article Abstract:

In changing its name, the Association for Information and Image, formerly the National Micrographic Association, is displaying the new role micrographics will play in data storage. Optical and computer technology will have a significant share of the market in the future, but micrographics will still remain the primary method of record storage. Although Matsushita Electric Company of Japan announced a new development in optical disk technology, Kodak does not forsee a practical affordable system for several years. Both 3M and Bell and Howell have brought out new advanced micrographic equipment.

Building students' marketing competencies

Article Abstract:

A shrinking pool of financial support will force human service agencies to turn to marketing in order to be competitive. A survey of home economics programs show that marketing courses are not included in the required curricula. Promotion and advertising are targeted as the most useful of marketing skills for child and family development specialists. Such skills are applicable in the areas of public relations and community awareness which are crucial to human service agencies.
