Dividing space - adding storage

Article Abstract:

Multipurpose spaces in houses can be improved by installing additional storage compartments. Storage compartments such as bookcases and shelves define settings such as libraries and living rooms. Wallboards may also be transformed to arches to divide function areas.

Architects Chuck Richards and Linda Michael moved the central front door of Ann Jameson and Tom Collier's home 10 feet to one side to create a foyer and bay window for the living room. The new entry has only one sidelight to match the Craftsman style of the house.
