Insect pests that eat garden vegetables include the cabbage looper, black cutworm, cabbage maggot, Colorado potato beetle, carrot weevil, European corn borer, fall armyworm, flea beetle and more. A quiz and photographs of the insects are included.

It's time to put up and pickle!

Article Abstract:

Fresh vegetables can be preserved by pickling. Eggplant, carrots, onions and many other vegetables lend themselves well to pickling. Recipes for pickled garden relish, kosher dills, pickled basil beans and million-dollar relish are given.

Plant a kitchen herb garden

Article Abstract:

Herbs are easy to grow and take up very little garden space. A few plants supply a large supply, and less is needed of fresh grown herbs. Some of the varieties described include cilantro, basil, sage, oregano and parsley.
