The 1999 AFLAC Champions tournament was held on a challenging course in Alabama and was expected to be between two players. This golf tournament for women which is open to Ladies Professional Golf Association winners produced the unexpected and an exciting finish.

Down to the wire: last October, the LPGA's best players faced off on one of the toughest courses in Alabama

Article Abstract:

The AFLAC Champions women's golf tournament held in Mobile, AL, in Oct 2000 is discussed. This is a very challenging course, with the greens having many bumps and slopes. The 45 competitors had achieved almost 450 victories on the LPGA Tour.

Two of the major 1999 golf tournaments will be held in the Southern states. The US Women's Open is scheduled at Old Waverly Golf Club on May 31-Jun 26, 1999 while the US Men's Open will be held at North Carolina's Pinehurst Resort and Country Club on Jun 17-20, 1999.
