English painted dial clocks
Article Abstract:
Clocks with painted dials were disdained by collectors because of their large size but were in reality more expensive to make than the more popular brass dial clocks. Painted decorations in dials reached their highest point from 1830-1840 when small oil paintings were the common theme.

Flights of fancy: Count Bruhl and the Swan Service
Article Abstract:
The Meissen factory of Germany created the 2,200-piece Swan Service dinnerware between 1737-41 for Minister Heinrich Count von Bruhl, who headed the factory. The pieces were held within the family until the end of World War II.
