Food from the desert

Article Abstract:

One-fifth of the Sonoran Desert's flora is edible that contains valuable foods that could be stored in order to sustain the people when fresh plants were unavailable. The gathering of wild foods from the desert was literally life sustaining, but it served another important purpose of fostering social communication.

The fall color plants that make the garden pleasant and colorful are highlighted. The cooler temperatures of fall bring on a flush of bloom to accompany the colorful foliage.
