In praise of myrtle: a fresh look at a trusty groundcover

Article Abstract:

Myrtle pervades the woods of southern Vermont despite the fact it is not a native plant. It was brought from Europe during American colonial times. It can be planted between early spring to late August. It requires a friable soil free of roots from trees or shrubs to start growing.

Establishing a groundcover: step-by-step

Allegheny spurge

Article Abstract:

The Allegheny spurge produces a green foliage with a combination of emerald and deep-green purplish hues. It prefers moist, shady spots. Its flowers appear in early spring and fade by June.
