Comb collecting can be an interesting hobby when one becomes acquainted with fine antiques from around the globe. Examples include wooden pieces from Ghana, Victorian celluloid, Chinese combs made of Kingfisher feathers, and Argentinian pieces made of tortoiseshells.

Hesse has a long standing hobby of collecting Santa Clause items every Christmas holiday. These include Santa's of varying sizes, colors and attributes. These collections are used every Christmas season as decorations in her home.
