Laying out paths

Article Abstract:

A landscape architect describes how he used slabs of mica schist to create an informal garden pathway outside a rural Vermont house. He then chose birch trees, evergreen shrubs and purple reed grasses to unify the design. Large mossy boulders were also placed strategically.

Creeping phlox

Article Abstract:

Creeping Phlox is an excellent ground cover plant that blocks out weeds and produces white, blue and pink flowers in the spring. The foilage stays green in the winter, even when covered in snow. It requires some shade and moist soil.
