Paperwhites: sweet defiance

Article Abstract:

Paperwhites are flowering bulbs that can be used to liven up winters indoors. Its long, fleshy stems and leaves are topped by refreshing white blossoms that can be set off using clay pots, stone or glass containers. They may be planted in soil or gravel or may be washed out and set in shallow water.

Money plant: an old-fashioned treasure

Article Abstract:

The money plant Lunaria annua is cultivated for its purple or white flowers and delicate silvery white seedpods. Money plants are grown from seeds which should be planted in sunny locations with well-drained soil. The seeds that have fallen from the previous season will grow in the following season.

Article Abstract:

The Atlanta garden designed by Sharon Abroms-McHale features carved stonemasons laced with dwarf mondo grass and a table set braided by ivy-shaped candelabra. During spring, the rock-hard landscape is highlighted by Lenten rose and Southern shield ferns.
