Collector Martha Crouse has built up a collection of 815 pencil sharpeners. She adds to her collection by ordering through toys stores and dime stores. She favors intricately designed sharpeners made in the 1920s and 1930s, such as one made in the shape of a diver and another resembling the Eiffel Tower.

Collector Stephen Taller has been collecting the paintings and drawings of artist Ben Shahn, and has amassed a collection of 6950 items. Shahn is known for his social-realist works in gouache that depict political issues such as the executions of anarchists.
