The family lawn has many critics who accuse it of using up too much water, of putting fertilizer into the ground water, and of being high-maintenance. Lawn lovers see the lawn as the alternative to having a home surrounded by mud during the rainy season, and lawn mowing as the answer to the problem of overweight Americans.

A lawn in winter

Article Abstract:

Lawns that turn brown in winter can be made to look good by eliminating winter weeds, raking fallen leaves and not mixing two warm season grasses together. Some people make their lawns stay green by spray painting it in green or planting with annual or perennial ryegrass.
