Protecting rare habitats, rare plants, in Florida

Article Abstract:

A team of researchers at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, which is a part of a network of gardens affiliated with the Center for Plant Conservation (CPC) are working to protect imperiled native plants of at-risk Florida habitats like the pine rocklands. The FairchildEs CPC botanists are also conducting experimental reintroductions of beach Jacquemontia in Florida's coastal dunes to discover the optimum conditions for the sprawling wine to survive.

Havens for endangered plants

Article Abstract:

Director of the Institute for Plant Conservation at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Kayri Havens' focus is on saving endangered plants, and she has been called botany's Wonder Woman. She finds her inspiration by going out and seeing intact natural areas whenever she can and by hoping that these areas are maintained for future generations.

Collaborative conservation in the Texas Hill Country

Article Abstract:

Several volunteers are playing a crucial role in a joint effort with conservation botanists, park managers and landowners to conserve the bracted twistflower. At a yearly training program, botanists teach volunteers how to recognize the bracted twistflower by the key factors of its morphology.
