The Guatemalan government's effort to save the Peten rainforest was joined by scientists and environmentalists. A 3.7 million acre Maya Biosphere Reserve was created to stop the slash and burn farming. Ancient Mayan sustainable farming techniques are being used.

Article Abstract:

Lyme disease, known also as Ixodes scapularis, can be avoided, but it requires checking for ticks after gardening or walking through grassy or wooded areas. It is important to check the body to find any of them. If attached, they can be removed with a tweezers.
