Raising your soil the right way

Double digging, which can be strenuous, is an excellent way to raise soil for a raised-bed garden. An eight-step double-digging method is outlined. Step one is to build a trench across a new bed's narrow end. Tips on preventing shoveling injuries are included.

Removing sod the easy way

Article Abstract:

A six-step sod-removal method is outlined. Step one is testing to see if the soil in the planned garden area is workable. Step two is watering the soil, if it is dry, then letting the water settle out. Step three is removing small squares of sod.
