Ready, set swing

Article Abstract:

A systematic planning to build a wooden swing that relies almost on mortise-and-tenon joinery, one of the oldest and strongest methods for joining wood is presented. The procedure includes applying glue to the end of a tenon, sliding the tenon into the mortise, driving the screws into the screw holes and through the tenon, setting seat, arm rest and side pieces.

A perfect patch

The way to replace and refinish a section of wood flooring without the change being visible is demonstrated. For the repair to be truly invisible, it is necessary to have wood of the same dimension and species as the existing floor and finish that matches in color and sheen.

Article Abstract:

Several tips and the process for rejuvenating weather-beaten wood doors are presented. Some of them include sanding the flats, scraping the moldings, hand-sand the profiles, rehang the door, apply the first coat, and apply the final coats.
