Rosenthal's Rose Agate: The rarest of the rare

Article Abstract:

Jacob Rosenthal, the glass chemist made the famous Rosenthal's Rose Agate, a heat-sensitive opalescent glass whose pink color is created by selenium in the glass batch in 1903. There are just pieces of Rose Agate -Holly spooner and Holly toothpickholder, known to 21st century collectors and on April 7, 2006, the extraordinary Rose Agate Holly spooner will be placed on the auction block at the Otto Auction Co. of Amboy, Indiana.

Fenton Art Glass: A century of success

Article Abstract:

The success tale of Fenton Art Glass Company, which started off hundred years ago, is traced. Many of their products like the iridescent ware called 'Radium' are prized as 'Carnival Glass' and after the World War I, plain articles in pastel colors such as Celeste Blue, Tangerine, were made and collectors of 'Stretch of Glass' value these pieces.

James S. Measell, a college professor after 35-plus years of buying antiques the old-fashioned ways, completed the 100th eBay on-line auction purchase. Some observations and suggestions for those venturing onto eBay to purchase for antiques and collectibles are presented.
