Simplified seed-starting: growing your own transplants is fun - and easy

Article Abstract:

New varieties of vegetables can be grown if a gardener starts with seeds instead of the common varieties of grown seedlings that can be purchased. Seed-starting requires the planting material, peat pots or six-pack planters and natural fertilizers. Water and light are the only other requirements.

Equipment to help the gardener successfully and easily germinate seeds for the garden are described. These products include self-watering kits, peat pots, humulus pots made of recycled paper, soil block makers which press starter soil into blocks, capillary mats, heating pads and cables.
