Stephen De Staebler

Article Abstract:

The American sculptor Stephen De Staebler will present his seven of his haunting works, belonging to that most phase in his exploration of the human that posses a hieratic presence: the disembodied legs he first exhibited in 1998. These fragmentary figures offer evidence of a sensibility that understands both the inevitability of physical death and the unquenchability of the spirit and resemble the colossi that ornament Egyptian tombs, but on an intimate scale.
