The lure of early American revivals

Article Abstract:

New Englander, Wallace Nutting introduced the commercial production of colonial furniture in the year 1917 in an attempt towards the revival of past memories related to the celebrations of the country's hundredth year and the Columbian exposition in Chicago. Wallace Nutting may not have made profits out of the production but definitely had quality attached to his endeavor.

The real early American furniture

Article Abstract:

A sampling of 'real' early American furniture and the homes in which it was featured are discussed. Age and style are authenticated by studying the inventory of original goods or visiting houses in the immediate region of similar style, age and taste to that of the early owners.

Looking at American quilts

Article Abstract:

An exploration of the history of quilts and quilt-making in the United States is presented. The money and time needed to make quilts were scarce in Colonial times, so only the wealthier women could afford whole cloth quilts.
