Toilet seats a low-cost way to decorate the bath

Article Abstract:

The bathroom decoration market has been enhanced by wider selections of toilet seats, as consumers seek easy ways to coordinate accessories such as wallcoverings and window treatments. Ginsey Manufacturing now distributes more than 250 toilet seat models. Most other bathroom fixtures and decorations are much more expensive than toilet seats. Decorative seats priced $20 to $60, and kiddie toilet seats featuring cartoon character imprints, priced $10-$12, are among the fastest growing segments.

Can industry sustain 1st-q growth?

Increasing housing starts in 1st quarter 1996 have benefitted sales in the home improvement after market. However, industry analysts are uncertain about the future of both markets. Home improvement chains with clearly defined customer focuses reported increasing sales in first quarter 1996. Forty percent of consumers in an American Express survey intend to make home improvements in 1996.

Stock maintenance and adequate coding for fastener products are the keys to increasing fastener sales. Larger retailers tend to rely on distributors to manage fastener inventories while small retailers tend to inventory their own products. Color-coding fastener products and displaying items in convenient locations are successful techniques for increasing fastener sales.
