Treasures in cameos

Article Abstract:

Cameos are usually associated with women's jewelry. In ancient Rome and Greece, they were carved with images of male heroes and valued for their art work. The Victorian period introduced the concept of women having their portraits carved on them. Valuable cameos have their carvers' names on them.

Fabulous fashion plates

Beautifully engraved illustrations of ladies' fashions, called fashion plates, began appearing in fashion magazines in the late 1700s and continued to about 1920. They are now valuable collectors' items. tips for collecting are included.
