What to plant: Iris cycloglossa

Article Abstract:

Iris cycloglossa grows to about 22 inches and can bear as many as nine four-inch flowers, which emerge from the leaf axils. They are clear medium lavender blue, with prominent standards and large falls, beautifully marked with a yellow crest within a teardrop-shaped white zone with a spicy scent.

What to plant: Magnolia xloebneri 'Leonard Messel'

Article Abstract:

The flowers of 'Leonard Messel' are relatively frost resistant and would come unscathed through freezes that turn the flowers of M.denudata and M.xsoulangeana to disgusting brown mush. The best time to plant a deciduous magnolia is early spring, preferably while it is still dormant.
