Momjian started collecting White House china in the 1950s and his collection is considered one of the largest collections of presidential state china outside of the White House. Some presidents did not purchase china, preferring to use their predecessors' dinnerware, where others were criticized for their choice of color, design, the amount purchased, or the money spent.
