Bombay loses $5.7M, awaits fresh goods

Article Abstract:

The first quarter net loss faced by The Bombay Company could be attributed to the lack of fresh product and weak business climate. The Bombay Company, which is migrating from malls to off-mall shopping centers, lost $5.7 million in the quarter ended May 1, 2004 as compared to $1.3 million loss for the same period in the year 2003 and showed a decline of 9.1% in the same-store sales in 2004.

3 chains post fair-to-strong Feb

Havertys showered an increase in same-store sales by 4.4% in February 2004, leading three public home furnishings retailers reporting fair to strong results for the month. Its total sales increased by 8.8% in February from the same month, a year ago to $6.17 million.

Pier 1 4Q sales up 6.6%, profits dip 10.6%

Article Abstract:

Pier 1 imports posted a 10.6% drop in its fourth-quarter net income but is looking for a bounce in part to a fresh advertising campaign. Sales for the year 2004 rose to a record $1.9 billion indicating an increase of 6.5%.
