The Fourth of July Independence Day celebration was previously considered as the most awaited festival in America but its patriotic meaning has been reduced to mean a circus show. However, philosophers still claim that it is the carelessly exuberant celebration that define the spirit of liberty.

The Christmas long ago

Early American settlers celebrated Christmas in various ways. The German settlers of Pennsylvania and Virginia had Belsnickel whose job was to bring gifts to the children on Christmas Eve. The English settlers of Jamestown, VA, had 12 days of festivities presided over by the Lord of Misrule.
