Crate & Barrel has opened its 47,00-sq-ft, heart-shaped store in Lincoln Park in Chicago, IL. The three-level furniture store is the second biggest among 77 store chains in the region. 15,000 sq ft on the upper two floors of the new outlet is devoted to Crate & Barrel's wide array of living room, bedroom, dining and home office furniture, while the lower floor features wine glasses, colanders, gourmet pieces and housewares, along with several other retail items. Crate & Barrel has also stationed a full-toned flower shop near the store's entrance.

Gardner White set to open 6th store

Article Abstract:

Gardner White, which is among the Top 100 furniture stores in the US, will open its sixth branch in the Detroit area of Canton, MI. The move by Gardner White is part of its 1998 expansion and modernization strategy. Gardner White will utilize 43,000 sq ft, where approximately 40,000 sq ft will be dedicated to a showroom, and intends to lease the rest of the space to The Guitar Center. Gardner White Vice President Steve Tronstein stated that the new store, which marks its first unit in six years, is around two years overdue.
