Levitz appoints Grund president of operations

Article Abstract:

Levitz, a 105-store furniture retailer, has appointed Ed Grund as president of store operations. Before his appointment, Grund was executive vice president and general manager for Sunglass Hut International's North American division. Grund's position formerly belongs to Brian Levy, who resigned from the company in late 1997. Grund, in his new position, will supervise all retail and store operations functions. Six regional vice presidents will report to Grund, who expressed excitement at working for the company amidst its restructuring program.

Grund takes helm at Levitz

Article Abstract:

Levitz Furniture has appointed Ed Grund chairman and chief executive officer on December 1998, replacing Michael Bozic, who left the furniture retailer to become Kmart's vice chairman. Grund, who joined the retailer in May 1998 as president of store operations, will oversee the firm's management restructuring and the launching of a prototype store in Phoenix, Arizona. Under Grund, the firm hopes to recover from its losses, which reached $52 million for the first six months of fiscal year 1999.
