Nicoletti builds big Italian plant, sets N.C. warehouse in drive to boost U.S. sales

Article Abstract:

Sofa Art by Giuseppe Nicoletti will open a new 500,000-sq-ft building in Matera, Italy, tripling its production capacity. The new facility in Italy will allow the company to expand its business in North America. In the next two to three months, the company will also establish a warehouse in North Carolina to serve its customers in the East Coast. The company expects to generate sales of $20 million in the US in 1998. According to Mauro Bracciale, sales manager in the US, the company's leather products in North America accounts for 20% of its total sales, and that percentage is expected to rise to 50% by 2002.

Calia ends partnership with Italian Leather Seating

Italian upholstery manufacturer Calia terminated the three-year sales and marketing partnership with the United States agent Italian Leather Seating. Despite the termination, the two companies are going to market in the United States subsequent to organizational changes, which are examined.
