Office Depot set to buy Viking Office Products

Article Abstract:

Office Depot has agreed to acquire Viking Office Products of Torrance, CA. Viking, which has 26 stores in 11 countries, has more than 2.5 million business customers in the US, Europe and Australia. Although 75% of Viking's sales are in general office supplies, it gets 10% of its revenues from home office furniture. According to David Fuente, Office Depot's CEO, the company will retain Viking's name and management after the deal is completed. Meanwhile, Fuente is expected to become chairman and CEO of the merged company, while Irwin Helford will continue to serve as chairman of Viking and will become vice chairman of the merged company.

Boise Cascade to buy OfficeMax for $1.15B
