Jordan's Furniture has attributed much of the success it achieved in its rug business to its strategy of selling its merchandise via a total room package. Jordan's Furniture considers rugs as items that complete a room setting and display them in virtually all of the room settings in the company's four outlets. However, the company has also set up a separate department tasked to sell rugs due to experiences where it realized that rug prices must not necessarily go hand-in-hand with prices of furniture items such as sofa. A average Jordan's Furniture store attracts approximately 25,000 shoppers everyday and has merchandise turns of 13 times annually.

Working mother wins Rhodes BMW

Rhodes Furniture's "Express Yourself" sweepstakes' 1998 BMW Z3 has been awarded to Laura Williams of Nashville, TN, one of over 140,000 customers who participated in the furniture store chains' promotion. Williams, a working single parent and a nursing student, won the $30,500-car with her visit to a Rhode Furniture outlet in Charlotte, NC. Richmond, VA-based Rhodes Furniture's EVP, Buck Thornton, who presented Williams with her prize, said that he was pleased to give the prize to an individual who is deserving of such special gifts.
