The four-square garden: a Connecticut garden of simple means and sumptuous scenes

Floral designer Peter Stephen and his partner Chris Lennon's garden consists of four square display beds, which are 35 feet by 35 feet each, and two retangular beds, which are separated from the others by a hedge and an arbor. The garden features dependable perennials.

A little garden with big ideas

Article Abstract:

Garden designer Jon Carloftis designed the one-third acre surrounding his Frenchtown, NJ, home to appear larger. He built a simple white picket fence to surround the yard, and planted black-eyed Susans on the outside and perennial beds inside.
