The evolution of the production of visco-elastic foam from the early 1970s is reviewed. The sales of the new visco-elastic foam, which is originally developed for NASA to improve the crash protection for airline passengers, have touched the roof of the furniture industry due to the pioneering efforts of Lexington, Ky.-based, Tempur-Pedic International.
