Widdicomb names new president, COO

Article Abstract:

John Widdicomb has appointed Robert Dillon president and chief operating officer of the high-end furniture manufacturing concern. He replaces Stephen Nobel as president and Ron Williams as COO while Williams is named vice chairman and Nobel resumes his private consultancy work. Dillon brings to his new assignment 22 years of experience at Harden Furniture where he used to be vice president and general manager of contract division. He rose from the ranks at Harden from manager of finishing operations to vice president. Dillon will be directly responsible to chairman Jim DeVries at Widdicomb.

Bassett names Lupo EVP

Article Abstract:

Bassett Furniture has appointed John Lupo as executive vice president of sales and marketing. Lupo's post was a newly created one, with responsibilities that include heading the three-pronged Bassett Furniture Direct store program and developing marketing and advertising programs. In addition, Lupo will be in charged with Bassett's brand and distribution approaches. Lupo is a veteran of the retailing business, with experiences in holding executive positions at several retail companies such as Wal-Mart and Higbee Co.
