Younkers' Metropolis goes up-scale: high living comes to the corn belt

Younkers Department Store in Des Moines has opened an up-scale housewares and gourmet department called Metropolis. Merchandise is displayed in zones which inspire impulse buying and provide flexibility in displaying seasonal or trendy items. Competition spurred Younkers into the renovation, and the new department has been a great success.
