By-products of a national health program

Article Abstract:

The Clinton administration's national health care study has yielded several interesting by-products and insights. Foremost is the ease with which new coalitions are formed, or alternatively, how existing coalitions have split into competing factions. Another is the huge size, about 2.5 billion if all claims being made by the various health care factions are tallied, of the overall US population. Still another is the resurgence of the 'Don't Blame Me - It's The Other Guy' mentality, although most parties apparently agree that malpractice lawyers are major villains.

This time in history, it's the best seller

Article Abstract:

Incoming US Pres Bill Clinton's administration will be selecting its appointees to political positions. There are 4,000 federal government positions that are purely political in nature and referred to as 'plums.' Another 5,000 professional positions, referred to as 'prunes' because they entail hard work, will also be filled. The Government Printing Office will publish a compilation known as 'The Plum Book' which lists political positions open for appointments by the new administration.

Health care reform tops Christmas wish list

Article Abstract:

The US needs a rational and comprehensive health care reform program for its workers. A new national health law will dramatically ease down the costs of medical malpractice and will also bolster the country's capacity to compete competitively in the international market aside from regulating internal business and industry. A vigorous health care reform system must address the problem of providing viable alternative payment systems for different kinds of diseases.
