Commission consults on working time directiv

Article Abstract:

The European Commission called for a re-examination of the working time directives of year 1993 which mentioned that employees should have a minimum rest period of eleven hours for every twenty-four hours worked, a rest break whenever working day is longer than six hours. The European Commission has asked all interested parties for comments regarding working hours, allowing employees to adopt the 48-hour working week.

National pay bargaining accord for 2004

Article Abstract:

Social partners all across Spain have agreed to follow the bargaining framework agreement of year 2003 to the year 2004. The collective bargaining round for year 2004 will be according to the recommendations that any pay hikes should be within the margin of inflation forecasts for the year and also that the agreements would be reworked incase of any rise in inflation.

Review of main collective bargaining trends

Article Abstract:

The systematic collective bargaining process of Austria where Austrian federal economic chamber (WKO) on behalf of employers and Austrian trade union confederation and federal chambers of labor on behalf of employees are negotiate and formulate the collective agreements. These agreements made for a period of one year have legal status.
