Common ground

Article Abstract:

Integrating environmental management into their health and safety programmes is one of the least onerous approaches companies can take in response to the growing pressure to consider the environmental impact of their activities. Firms are now subject to a growing number of quality, environmental and safety requirements, and many businesses have three distinct management structures, policies and even personnel structures. Since companies already have health and safety structures in place, it makes sense to adopt an integrated approach and use them as the basis for environmental policies.

Road works: when people and vehicles collide people come off worse

Article Abstract:

Workplace transport accidents are the second most common cause of fatalities in construction. dr Traffic Signs Manual set out requirements and lighting for works on roadways, especially when there is a high risk of interaction with members of the public. Whilst good signage and lighting are important on road works, they only reduce the risk for a small range of hazards created by road and street works.
